My eye has been at it about a week now. The wonders of getting older.

I recently started playing with a new software tool called Octane Render. Pretty unbelievable what it can allow you to create.

The impact on my career and day to day workflow is hard to quantify. Simply put, something that might’ve taken me an hour to render, might now take only a minute or two, and look much better. I’m in the business of making things look good, as fast as possible, so this is a great thing.

That said, I’m going to try and make it a point to create things in this medium as often as I can for the time being. At least until I feel like I have some control over it. They say practice makes perfect. I say perfect makes money.

Besides, it’s just plain fun for me.

I made Alexis again, she dislikes it. I think it’s pretty spot on.

An ugly portrait of my beautiful girlfriend.

I’m in fourth grade, its Valentines Day, and I got hold of some Spider-Man branded Valentines cards. Rules are, you hand them out to everyone, no one is left out. My fourth grade self made damn sure that everyone got the same exact, boring, generic, platonic card from me. Everyone except my fourth grade crush of course. Samantha something. Her card was Doctor Octopus, a six-armed Spider-Man villain, shouting “I can’t wait to get my arms around you!” A clear as day declaration of my feelings, all on the table.

One by one, she went through her cards and I waited for her reaction across the classroom. Finally, she held and read mine, looked to me, and called out… “EWWWWWWW KYLE!?”

My fourth grade self was crushed, never forget it.
